We are committed to providing a comprehensive and balanced academic, artistic and practical experience for students in grades pre K through 12, consistent with the ideals and methods of Waldorf EducationWorking together, our faculty, staff, Board and parents seek to create a community where childhood is honored and held in reverence.

While striving for academic excellence, our students acquire capacities that prepare them for our changing world. Through a thoughtfully constructed curriculum, students meet activity, content and expectations that are developmentally appropriate and challenging. Our students thrive in a joyful and engaging atmosphere that fosters clear thinking, innovation, open-mindedness and compassion.

THE RSSAA LIBRARY PROGRAM

The Rudolf Steiner School Library Program aims to foster a lifelong love of learning by providing students with creative venues and meaningful resources that enable them to explore and develop personal interests within the context of their Waldorf Education.

>Blog Link: Meet the Librarians!
During the school year, we schedule regular hours for book circulation, publish weekly announcements and update online content, host educational events and activities, maintain relevant reading collections and feature selections, provide support for basic student research, and work with faculty to develop curriculum resources. Faculty and staff on both campuses provide essential feedback about our library resources and give students the opportunity to use our collections through class visits or individual recommendations.

Books for borrowing are accessible to students and faculty at both the Lower School and High School campuses, and many collections are available in the RSSAA Online Catalog for viewing and searching online. We welcome visits and inquiry from the RSSAA community at large, including parents who may browse and borrow from our collections for further enrichment of their family's Steiner school experience.

Our largest library, named for the school's first librarian, Ellie Klopp, is the Lower School Library which offers the RSSAA community over 5,000 titles --- everything from Readers, for those beginning to experience the joy of written words, to Paperback and hardcover Fiction books with series for older readers, as well as a General collection for all students to explore an array of subjects (nonfiction and literature classified by a modified Dewey Decimal system).

This library is open for circulation with a librarian on duty, on Monday through Thursday afternoons, when the Lower School is in session. Books are checked out using a card system which includes handwritten or stamped book pocket cards, due date cards, and borrower cards. On site, there is a classic Card Catalog for patrons to use, along with an internet connection for librarians to access online resources and tools.

EARLY CHILDHOOD PARENT LIBRARY at the Lower School

This lovely collection of magazines and books, especially relevant for parents, is available to the community for self-checkout at the new Parent Spot (RSSAA Store). Here you'll find children's picture books along with resources on parenting, child development, and Waldorf education topics (including Waldorf Education, parenting, festivals, crafts, stories and songs).

This school year (2019/20) we are starting a brand new online self-checkout books for parents and staff through Parent Square.
