Back to School Library 2017!

From Karen Totten, RSSAA Library Program director
A good book is like a good friend. It will stay with you for the rest of your life. When you first get to know it, it will give you excitement and adventure, and years later it will provide you with comfort and familiarity. And best of all, you can share it with ... anyone you love enough to let into its secrets. ~Charlie Lovett

WELCOME BACK!
September ― hints of frost, apple baskets heaped with fruit, and sumac turning color along the roadsides. Harbingers of the beginning of a new school year at Rudolf Steiner School of Ann Arbor. A chance to connect with old friends one might not have seen during summer break, and an opportunity to meet new friends, and welcome them to our school community. September means a return to classes one loves ― handwork, woodworking, Spanish, German, or Mandarin, Main lesson. Yes, and the opportunity to again borrow books from the Ellie Klopp and Parent-Child Libraries!

The librarians at Ellie Klopp have been busy all summer searching for and buying new books, and making room for them on the shelves! This year you will find old favorites like Secrets of Droon, The Boxcar Children, and Animal Ark series waiting to be read. We lost many Harry Potter books last year to avid use, so we have been replacing tattered copies with new editions. We have also pre-ordered a copy of the Illustrated Prisoner of Azkaban, due out in October.

If you are fond of Rick Riordan’s books you will love the new books in the Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard series. The title character discovers he is the son of a Norse God. And much adventure follows.

For animal lovers we have a fun series in short chapter books about The World According to Humphrey, a loveable hamster who is kept by students in Room 26. We also have a new series called The Kingdom of Wrenly. The story stars a prince and his friend Clara who deal with witches, sea monsters and other magical beings in their neighborhood; in short chapter books as well.

In history and mystery we have books on the Revolutionary War, including George Washington’s Socks, and George Washington’s Spies, both about traveling through time to certain historical events … and George Washington, of course.

Come investigate what we have to offer! Make some new friends on the pages of a good book!
